Thanksgiving at the Defense Contractors

Thanksgiving at the Defense Contractors

It was eleven years ago when the retired generals officially took over the place I had been working.  They announced that the regular Thanksgiving dinner celebration would not be like it always had been.  Formerly, it was a pretty chill event with everyone bringing in food and setting up their contributions next to the break room.  You could wander freely back and forth to the big conference room, sit at the conference room table, eat as much as you wanted all day, then scoot out early with a full belly. Naturally, this was problematic to the...

Donald Trump needs to debate Deez Nuts!

Posted by on 9:00 am in Random Thoughts | 0 comments

The ratings would be HUGE. It would be all over the Internet and it would piss off Huffington Post. A debate between Donald Trump (who is running for president as a Republican even though the established party is trying to disown him) and Independent candidate Deez Nuts would be awesome!  I can already see throngs of people showing up to the debate wearing “I SUPPORT DEEZ NUTS FOR PRESIDENT” T-shirts. Amazingly, Deez Nuts is currently doing better than former AT&T executive Carly Fiorina, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and...

Defense: The Spice Must Flow

Posted by on 9:00 am in Random Thoughts | 0 comments

As many of you know, I used to work for a defense contractor.  I was in the marketing department.  I know…who even thinks about making sales pitches and advertisements for a defense contractor?  But it’s a huge and lucrative business. Last year, private contractors accounted for 64 percent of all U.S. deaths in Afghanistan.  The US public will not and cannot know exactly where last year’s deceased are from because, shockingly, the U.S. Department of Labor “does not routinely track the nationality of workers injured or killed.”  Now, as...

Bankrupt: I Hope I’ve Got This Wrong!

Today I was thinking about how over 50% of the people in America now get some kind of government check every month.  Sure, people can justify that they deserve the money, sure. But at some point, the checks will have to stop.  And what will happen then?  The United States is BANKRUPT.   I know it’s hard to fathom, but it true. Seriously we are not even running on fumes. We have been this way for a while. The US’s own financial statements show that the government’s ‘net worth’ is NEGATIVE $17.7 trillion. The US is already borrowing money...

How Did I miss This 4 Ton 9/11 Teardrop?

Posted by on 9:00 am in Random Thoughts | 0 comments

So I’m hanging out on Facebook and all of the sudden someone sends me this picture of a sculpture that was purportedly sent from Russia to the US as a gift after 9/11.  Is it just me?  Or does this thing remind anyone else of female genitalia?  I went to art school, so I’m cool with that.  Human anatomy aside, it looks like a real skyscraper with a giant, jagged laceration in the middle of it.  Hanging in the center of the empty space is a huge, shiny, nickel dear drop.  The thing is monumental and I had never seen it before.  In fact,...

Have You Got A Collectors Item?

I want to thank YOU and everyone who tuned into my interview on GCN’s the Power Hour with Joyce Riley Thursday.  What a great experience!  I’ve had more than one person contact me to tell me how much they enjoyed the interview and how impressed they were with the interviewer, Joyce Riley.   (Honestly, she’s a real pro.) If you missed the interview, you can listen to the podcast here. I have to apologize – well “apologize” might not be the right word here- but I need to let everyone who bought a hard cover copy of Little Yellow Stickies...

Has Cuba Cured Cancer?

Has Cuba Cured Cancer?

Today I found out that Cuba has a vaccine for cancer.  WOW! http://www.wired.com/2015/05/cimavax-roswell-park-cancer-institute/ I thought, “Oh, it’s Cuba and they probably don’t have all the wiz-bang testing / double blind trials and all.”  But I was wrong.  Other countries are involved in this too. The clinical experience began in 1995. Up to now, five phase I-II clinical trials have concluded in Cuba, two phase II have also concluded, one in Cuba and another one in Canada and the UK, and a phase II-III trial with an optimized schedule as...
